Why test for Fibrinogen
When is Fibrinogen Level Blood Test done ?
- Fibrinogen level blood test is done when a person has excessive bleeding like nosebleeds or bleeding gums or frequent easy bruising.
- Fibrinogen level is measured if a patient has a blood clot like Deep Vein Thrombosis.
- It is also used to treat patients with increased prothrombin time (PT) and/or Thromboplastin Time (APTT).
- Fibrinogen level is also used to evaluate risk of heart disease as a cardiac risk factor marker.
