Why test for Fibrinogen

When is Fibrinogen Level Blood Test done ? 

• Fibrinogen level blood test is done when a person has excessive bleeding like nosebleeds or bleeding gums or frequent easy bruising. 
• Fibrinogen level is measured if a patient has a blood clot like Deep Vein Thrombosis. 
• It is also used to treat patients with increased prothrombin time (PT) and/or Thromboplastin Time (APTT). 
• Fibrinogen level is also used to evaluate risk of heart disease as a cardiac risk factor marker.
