Rubella Virus Antibody, IgG test is used to know whether a person has sufficient rubella antiboies to protect from the infection and to identify whether a person had a past infection or a recent infection by rubella virus.
Test may be done prior to or during the initial period of a pregancy to know if the woman is having immunity, when a pregnant lady has symptoms of rubella infection such as fever and rash; when a new born child has signs of birth defects and whenever it is necessary to know a person has immunity to rubella virus.
