Why test for Post Prandial Urine Sugar (PPUS)

Post Prandial Urine Sugar (PPUS) is usually tested along with Post Prandial Blood Sugar (PPBS) usued for measurement of Blood Sugar from a blood sample taken 2 hours after meal, usually after lunch. PPBS helps to determine if your blood glucose level is within a healthy range; to screen for and diagnose diabetes and prediabetes and to monitor for high blood glucose (hyperglycemia) or low blood glucose (hypoglycemia); to check for glucose in your urine

Precautions : For a 2 hour postprandial test, you need to give your blood sample exactly 2 hours after your regular lunch. Take your lunch at your usual routine time and as far as possible take your usualy diet. For the 2 hours before collection of the sample, don't take any food or beverages. You can drink water and take your usual medicines. Don't take alcohol or smoke during this period. For other instructions ask your consultant physician or contact lab.
